Trevallion Jacko

Waliserne bruger betegnelsen "Bred in the purple", når et avlsdyrs afstamning indeholder welshavlens største og mest betydningsfulde blodlinjer. Udtrykket stammer fra gammel tid, hvor den lilla farve blev båret af de kongelige! Således er Trevallion Jacko "bred in the purple", og vi er selvsagt taknemmelige over, at vi har fået muligheden for at erhverve disse efterhånden meget sjældne og betydningsfulde blodlinjer.

Welsh Pony and Cob Societys Grand Old Man; Wynne Davis udtrykker sig således i bogen "One Hundred Glorius Years Years":

"With about 25 - 30 breeding Welsh Cob mares, the Trevallion Stud is the largest Welsh Cob Stud outside Wales and one of the largest in the world. It started off in 1967 as the Berkswell Stud when Mr Nelson Smidth bought the dun two-year old filly Arthen Eirlys (Caradog Llwyd x Patsy Brenin Gwalia).

Mr Smith is still partial to duns, when he judged at the 2000 RW Show, his champion and reserve Danaway Flashjack and Elonwy Shooting Star were both duns! The bedst-known animal bread with the "Berkswell" prefix (before it was changed to Trevallion in 1974) was Berkswell Beauty (f. 1972, Tyngwndwn Cream Boy x Parc Ormond Jolly II). Berkswell Beauty is the dam of Trevallion Flashjack (f. 1977, sired by Tyhen Comet) who in turn, is the sire of Danaway Flashjack.

The greatest influence on the Stud was the purchase as a foal in 1976 from her breeders Mr and MRS Marriott of Tapton, Derby of Tapton Rachael (Derwen Telenor x Tyhen Princess, daughter of the 1962 and 1973 RW champion Tyhen Mattie).

Rachael's influence is through her progeny, three full-sisters by Chippyn Real Magic: Trevallion Pearl (f. 1981), Rhoda (f. 1982) and April (f. 1983) then Montana (f. 1991 by Brynymor Welsh Magic). Pearl is dam of Trevallion Giorgio (f. 1991 by Brynymor Welsh Magic) Prince of Wales Cup winner at the 1997 RW Show and champion at the RASE in 1999 and dam of the stud's youngest stallion Trevallion Hooch (f. 1995 by Trevallion Flashjack) who was 1st and reserve youngstuck champion at the 1996 RW Show.

Pearl is also dam of Trevallion Pendora (f. 1985 by Tyhen Comet) a big winner and dam of Trevallion Princess Pandora f. 1997 by Trevallion President Dino, son of Tapton Rachael one of the show "stars" of 1999 and 2000. Trevallion Rhoda is dam of the Stud's senior stallion Trevallion Ace Comet (f. 1988 by Tyhen Comet) who was the 2000 champion at the Midtland and Great Yorkshire shows. Rhoda is also dam of Trevallion Valentino (f. 1991 by Brynymor Welsh Magic) (Danaway Stud) and Trevallion Stepping Jack (f. 1995 by Trevallion Flashjack). Trevallion April made history by producing the RW champion Danaway Flashjack and Trevallion Montana was one of the most consistent winners of 1999 including champion at the NPS Show. What a family! Trevallion Stud has proved that one does not have to reside within the Principality to hold one's own in the Welsh Cob world."

De fleste af de nævnte navne herover indgår i Trevallion Jacko samt i vores stamhopper; Kaydence Tallulah (S: Trevallion Hooch/DS: Ebbw Victor) , Mailunds Duffy (S:Valhallas Limelight/DS: Rotherdale Rhodri) og Valhallas Lady Starlight (S: Rotherdale Rhodri/DS: Trevallion Flashjack). Derfor ser vi også med stor optimisme på fremtidens avl!
